Restoration

Restoration is a very complex procedure and requires a great deal of education and experience in order to achieve consistently good results. National Gown Cleaners is internationally recognized as a expert in this area, since most of our textile conservators have extensive backgrounds in textile restoration.

Restoration requires knowledge of period pieces, milling practices, lace making techniques, textile construction, dressmaking as well as color chemistry and stability. Restoration may incorporate services such as dry-cleaning, wet-cleaning, textile replacement or other methods in order to restore a textile to as close to original condition as possible.

Due to the high level of attention required to handle a textile in restoration services, National Gown Cleaners analyzes each garment or piece to determine which methods should be incorporated and in what order.
